Life’s a Beach Hut

perfWe’re so proud of our community cast who created and performed in our latest community theatre production, Life’s a Beach Hut. Commissioned by Creative Scene (Kirklees Creative People and Places programme) and Connect Housing, the work was presented as part of a wider community celebration Dewsbury On Sea on August 29th 2015.

The show was made in a series of workshops during the 2 weeks in the run up to the show. Over 100 participants helped to sew, paint, write and perform. Our cast of 17 community actors presented the show 3 times in the town centre to large enthusiastic audiences. Afterwards many more joined us at the disco hut, smiling and dancing the afternoon away.

The wider community had a chance to explore each installation, pushing their way through the sequins into the disco hut, immersing themselves in Home Sweet Home, listening to some of the stories we collected and braving the abandoned hut with lost items.

The community shared some incredible stories with us, and new friendships sparked.

Thank you very much to Creative Scene and Connect Housing for this amazing opportunity!
