Yes
it's rocket science! Touring again in 2009!, Space
Circus is a touring show for Yorkshire schools which
looks at all aspects of outer-space exploration: both real
and imagined.
In 2007/08 Space Circus toured 36 schools
and performed Space Circus 130 times to over 3000 pupils.
Partners
in Innovation, West Yorkshire, an organisation that exists
to enliven the teaching and learning of STEM subjects –
Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, has commissioned
Chol to create a learning engagement tool using drama to enrich
young people’s understanding of the science of space.
Set
in 3 inflatable artist-designed pods, the story takes place
in a lunar hotel, in a space craft and on Jupiter’s
moon, Europa. Space Circus takes on technology
and the stars; poetry and astrophysics, aliens and alienation;
maths, myths and magic and will take young people on an unforgettable
mission that asks: what’s it really like to be a scientist
and asks, are we really alone?
Space
Circus is set to re-launch in June 2009 for a brand new tour
of Yorkshire schools so steady your jet packs and watch out
for the Space Circus team docking at a school near you!
